As part of the United States’ investment in the international microchip or semiconductor industry, the Biden-Harris Administration is bringing historic jobs and funding to Idaho.
In April of 2024, Boise-based semiconductor manufacturer Micron Technology announced that it had received $6.1 billion from the federal government to ramp up production and bring more microchips jobs onto American soil. The funds will go towards the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Boise, which will create 20,000 good-paying jobs for Idahoans. This investment marks the single most significant private investment in Idaho's history.
Micron’s long term goal is to partner with the federal, state, and local governments to build a $15 billion facility in Boise, creating the first new memory chip plan in the U.S. in over 20 years.
"We got to work on making sure the administration picked Micron's Boise facility for a CHIPS investment," Boise Mayor Lauren McLean said. "This investment supports a local company and helps us achieve our goals of building a strong future for everyone in Boise."
Thanks to monumental investments from the Biden-Harris Administration, Idaho is boosting American innovation
