Artificial intelligence is no longer a question of “if” but “how.” The rapid adoption and evolution of AI technology presents extraordinary opportunities to make life better if approached responsibly. Public policymakers have a crucial role to play in establishing privacy, security, and other safeguards to ensure that the benefits of these innovations reach every community. At the same time, we also have an enormous responsibility to take full advantage of AI’s potential to help government deliver better results for the American people. How to best achieve that mission is the focus of this report.
