FIRST IN MT: NEW REPORT ON AI FOR GOVERNMENT

AI

“NewDEALForum has a new report that serves as a call to action for state and local governments to responsibly implement artificial intelligence, in response to the Trump administration’s executive order seeking to curb state AI laws.

The report is led by the organization’s AI Task Force co-chairs, which includes New York Assemblymember Alex Bores; Albany, New York, Mayor-elect Dorcey Applyrs; and San Jose, California, Mayor Matt Mahan. The co-chairs highlight in the report examples of responsible AI adoption within state and local governments across the country and which sectors are using AI to work smarter, such as permitting processes, traffic safety and public engagement.

“Amidst unpredictable federal action around AI regulation, state and local leaders have an urgent responsibility to model people-first AI governance and deployment,” the report reads.
