Residents across Arizona will save a collective $164 million in utility bills, thanks to the state’s new Solar for All initiative. Funded by the EPA and authorized in the Inflation Reduction Act, this program will improve access to rooftop and neighborhood-scale solar generation, and will lead to the production of more than 60 megawatts of solar resources. The primary beneficiaries will be low-income families, renters, and rural and Tribal communities.
In addition, roughly 300 rural households will benefit from both solar panels and household batteries to store electricity, protecting them from potential service disruptions.
The benefits to Arizona include more than utility savings and clean, environmentally-friendly energy. Federal investments like the IRA and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law already created 11,000 good-paying jobs in Arizona, as noted by Arizona U.S. Senator Mark Kelly.
“It’s been amazing to see how much Phoenix has benefited from the Inflation Reduction Act,” Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix and a NewDEAL Leader, said in 2023. “And people are getting great high-wage career paths. Our residents are also so excited about being able to reduce those energy bills.”
